Good King Charles's days Sir: Mr R. Walker (16 May),

in his letter to the editor, claims that Sir Denis Brogan 'snipes snidely' at M Guy Mollet as a 'Prot- estant schoolmaster' and says that such 'sniping' occurs with 'consistent regularity in articles by your Roman Catholic con- tributors ..

As I am ignorant of the religious beliefs of the SPECTATOR'S contributors, I should appreciate a list of contributors with their respective denominations so that I, too, may watch out for such un-Christian and un- charitable sniping on the part of the Roman Catholic contributors.

To date, although I have been reading the SPECTATOR regularly since January 1968, 1 have been shamefully unaware of such occurrences.
