DOGS AND THE DARK,

ITO THE EDITOR OF Tun " SPROTATOR."] SM,—It has been brought to my notice that, since the lighting of the streets has been diminished, a number of dogs have been killed or injured by being run over, and I therefore venture to ask you to give me an opportunity of urging on owners the absolute necessity of not allowing their dogs to be loose in the streets after dark, and if it is necessary to take them out into the streets at night alwaya to have them on a lead. By taking this precaution dogs will not only be preserved from injury, but the dangers of the streets for human beings will also to a certain extent be diminished.—I am, Sir, Ste., EDWARD O. EAIRHOLME, Chief Secretary. R.B.P.C.A., 105 Jertntin Street, S.W.
