Lane. (Chatto and Windus. Is. 6d.)—This volume is one which, over and above the general utility of the information given, is full of significance. If one regards, for instance, the date of the various charities, it is noticeable that, taking one letter, we find a record of one hundred and five names, and that four-fifths of these were founded in the nineteenth century and after, many of the earlier charities being small trusts connected with City Companies.
