THE LATE DEAN OF ST. PAUL ' S.
ITo THE EDITOR Or THE "SPECTATOR."] Sin,—I would venture, with your leave, to add a postscript to Mr. Huntington's interesting letter. He has told your readers of the generous regard with which Bishop Lightfoot spoke of the late Dean of St. Paul's. Many may be glad to know the just and grateful admiration which on the Dean's side answered that regard. Less than two months before his death, he was talking of Bishop Lightfoot, and said : " He was a really great man ; there was in him a rare combination of quietness and enthusiasm, of critical scholarship and natural eloquence." The words may claim the weight which belongs to the judgment of one who certainly was not wont to be conventional either in praise or blame.---I am, Sir, &c.,
