Some doubt is thrown upon the truth of the recent

intelligence from Persia. Lord PONSONBY'S despatches, dated the 13th of October, contain no information respecting the retirement of the Persian army from before Herat; although, had it taken place, it ought to have been known at Constantinople long before that date.
