My Book of Inventions. (E. Arnold.) — In this volume

of " The Children's Favourite Series," the reader is first intro- duced to "Giant Steam," a being who indeed deserves the precedence given to him. The special biography is that of James Watt. After this we have the printing press, the locomotive steam-engine, electricity and its doings, and the sewing machine. These matters are set forth in language suited to the understand- ing of young readers.
