A MEMORIAL TO FLORENCE NIGHTINGALE.

[To THE EDITOR OF THE " SPECTATOR.1 Sin,—The suggestion in your last issue of a Nightingale nurse as to providing homes for old pensioners whose friends or relations do not care for their presence is accepted, and would be hailed as the most fitting and providential event that could cross the mind of any one in this boasted new age of humanity. There is a general dislike, often a horror, on the part of the poor and the sickly regarding the workhouse. Many of the old people would augment from their own savings the 5s. pension, and others would receive further assistance from friends. It would in reality be a godsend. Will the Spectator give a kindly word for the scheme ?—
