M. Clemoneeau, despite his groat age, has recovered from the

murderous attack made on him lest week, though the bullet which entered his lungs cannot be extracted. His doctors have ceased to issue bulletins, and will permit him to resume his work at the Peace Conference. M. Clemeneeau's providential escape from death is a boon for the Allies. He represents France with more authority than any other man could exert, and he Is the ideal President for the Conference in these very critical days.
