President Wilson arrived at Boston on Monddy and addressed a

public meeting on the subject of the Peace Conference. He said that national claims bad been, advocated with moderation, and that America was regarded as the impartial friend of all the peoples. America's prestige, he thought, was based on the fact that " America not only held ideals but acted ideals," and that the American soldiers fought like Crusaders. America had thus imposed a burden on herself, and must shoulder ft. " If America were at tide juncture to fail the world, what would come of it ? " Mr. Wilson said that the new Slav nations and Armenia, for example, would need support, and that the Peace must be guaranteed by the united forces of the civilized world. Ho had no doubt of America's verdict. " We set this nation up to make men free, and we will make mon free." If, as we hope, America decides to join the League of Nations, the Peace which the Allies are slowly framing will indeed be secure.
