The welcome news was received on Friday that Queen Wilhehnina
of Holland had given birth to a daughter early that morning. The happy event, expectations of which had been disappointed on more than one previous occasion, has been greeted with great enthusiasm in Holland, net only on account of the personal popularity of the Queen, but becaus,p of its political and Constitutional significance. In default of issue, the succession to the Dutch throne passes to a German branch of the Royal house, and the birth of a Dutch Princess naturally appeals to the patriotism of the Queen's subjects.
