The Daylight Saving Bill received the Royal Assent on Wednes-
day, and will come into force on Saturday night, when every house- holder before he goes to bed must put his clock forward an hour. The Act, it is hoped, will save some five millions a year in illuminants. It may interest our readers if we remind them that when Mr. Willett originally made his proposal the Spectator was almost the first newspaper to support him. At that time, however, the opposition was too strong to warrant a continuance of the agitation. We are heartily glad to see our old dream becoming a reality.
