Nigel Lawson
I ongratulate Nigel Lawson, the former editor of or the Spectator, on being adopted Leicestershire What looks like a pretty safe seat in Leicestershire. By the time the next elec tion conies, he will have spent several ears seeking to enter Parliament. I have no doubt whatever that he will make an excellent member, and I would expect him, the luck, soon to be given a job provided ne Tories are returned again. It often occurs to me that the most difficult task facing any man of ability who seeks a political career is to get himself adopted and subsequently elected Ability counts for little or nothing when it comes to facing selection committees, otherwise men like Lawson, or the still unadopted Douglas Hurd, would long since have taken up their seats.
