An engine-driver on the London and Birmingham Railway, named Joseph Jobling, was convicted at Marylebone Police-court on Tues- day, under the recent Railway Act, of gross misconduct. On Sunday night, when in a state of intoxication, he took the engine of which he had the charge from Camden Town to the Easton Square termines, along the line of rails that the mail-train was about to start upon. The engine was discovered just as the " breaksman" was fastening the snail-train to the rope, in time to prevent the collision that must have otherwise ensued. The Magistrate sentenced Jobling to be imprisoned for two months in the House of Correction.
