A Bit of Shamrock. By Mark Guy Pearse. (H. Marshall
and Son.)—This is a very pretty little idyll. Mr. Pearse, atter the unusual experience—that it is unusual every angler will testify—of finding fish rise greedily in a thunderstorm, takes shelter in a cottage, and there makes the acquaintance of little ICathleen, the " shamrock," whose pi, Lure he has drawn for us in a very delightful way. The "Celtic fringe" is often trouble- some, but then it is shot with colours which are not to be found elsewhere, and we are much obliged to Mr. Pearse for letting in the gleam of one of them.
