In My Garden
A detail of the art of succession, which I saw last week at the H.Q. of cloche cultivation (The Grange, Chertsey), filled me with envy. Under long lines of cloches, strawberry plants were beginning to set their fruit. The cloches that covered them had already done duty in protecting special sorts of violets, that had already flowered. As soon as the strawberries are over or past the danger point, the cloches will move on to cover gourd-i like fruits, such as melon or cucumber or marrow. W. BEACH THOMAS.
