With the death of Lord Claud Hamilton, which was announced
on Tuesday, there passed away one of the prime examples of that almost exclusively English type, the aristocrat who takes to business. After a career in the Grenadier Guards, Lord Claud Hamilton plunged into the business world and became engaged in a multi- tude of undertakings ; the most important of these was, of course, his Chairmanship of the Great Eastern -Railway. He won in all his business dealings a great reputation .for conscientiousness and integrity, and his genial and robust personality will be sorely missed in the worlds of business, politics and social life.
