On Monday the 29th of August, the Whig-Radical Bishop Dr.

Butler held his primary visitation at Coventry ; and at the visitation- dinner he not only omitted, but when requested, he actually refused, to give the usual toast of Church and king The clergy submitted to the insult until the Bishop; retired when the whole company remained. that they might have the opport -ty of paying that compliment which Dr. Butler had refused to the Church, of which the ruin must have been designed by Dr. Butler's patrons, when they appoieted as the successor of the pious and indefatigable Ryder, a man who in his
