There is no news of importance from France. An unsuccessful
attempt has been made in the Chamber of Deputies to curtail the usual grant of money to the Parisian theatres, on the ground of the immorality of some of the pieces recently performed there. THIERS remarked that it would be wiser to leave it to public opi- nion to correct the evil. Some of the Legitimists, and among them the Duke DE FITZJ AMES, have been declaiming in the Chamber of Peers against the English alliance ; but have re- ceived so complete an answer from TRIERS, that they must regret their folly.
