ROGER CASEMENT

SIR,—Roger Casement undermined his health in his efforts to help the unknown and underprivileged natives of the Congo and Putumayo. It is some source of satisfaction to note that Irish troops of the present day have been carrying on that tradition

under the auspices of the United Nations. - Not surprisingly, Casement gave unstintingly of his time and money to strengthen and revive the underprivileged Irish language. We of the Gaelic League of London feel honoured by the fact that Ruairi Mac Asmuint was one of our early members. It would be appreciated if, through the courtesy of your correspondence columns, we could add our voice to those of Dr. Mackey and Mr. Hamilton in urging the repatriation of the remains of a great and greatly wronged man.
