Mr. Morgan Powell, now a distinguished Canadian dramatic critic, has

travelled widely and seen ninny things besides the theatre. In Memories that Live (Macmillans, 15s.) he tells us of Africa and Egypt and India, as well as of Yvette Guilliert, Alla Nazimova, Bernhardt, Huse, Martin-Harvey, Tree, Irving, and of the cabarets and music-halls of bygone days. Mr. Powell has led an interesting life : his style is fluent and arresting, and he has made a most readable volume.
