Mr. Beach Thomas in his communication to the Daily Mail
of Thursday gives an interesting little picture of the way in which a picked detachment of the Prussian Guard which had held out most gallantly were overcome by, and forced to surrender to, " stalwart English troops from the Midlands." The Prussians held out "in deep passages and dug-outs by the aid of quickly shifted machine guns and a large store of bombs," but in the end they had to give up the struggle and become our prisoners.
