In Mesopotamia last week General Maude struck a blow at

the Turks on hie right flank. By an enveloping movement he drove the enemy across the Diala River at Kizil Robot, and forced them back into the Jebel Ballwin Range. This success has cleated the main road to the Persian frontier, for at least forty miles north-cost of Baghdad. The Turks would not have penetrated to the south of the Dials if the Russian forces which advanced through Persia and joined our army for a few days last spring had not been withdraw it. General Maude can expect no help from that quarter.
