It is a curious fact that young men and women who will spend months or years in learning to sing or draw, or even in learning to drive a golf ball, imagine that they can write merely by the light of nature. Perhaps this book will do something to disillusion them and set them on the right path. There are tricks of the trade in cobbling, and making articles or stories is obviously as difficult and definite a job as soling shoes.
