In the House of Lords on Tuesday the Bishop of

Liverpool moved his Liquor (Popular - Control) BR the revised form of the Oxford Bill. We must not follow the debate as the arguments haVe been made familial to our readers within the past few weeks. Enough to say that Lord Desborough announced that thc Govern- ment were opposed to legislation for the purpose of establishing local option or public management. They had not yet had time to consider the Southborough Report, but they recognized the importance of the subject and intended to draft a Bill of their own as soon as possible. We cannot pretend to be satisfied. We wish that the Government had supported the Bishop of Liverpool's Bill. The debate was adjourned till June 21st.
