Correggio. By Selwyn Minton. " Great Masters Series." (G. Bell

and Sons. 5s.) —The author gives us a careful and well- ordered account of the work of Correggio, but he does not attempt to solve or even go deeply into the problem of why Correggio, with his enormous powers, his wonderful sense of beauty, and his sureness of execution, does not leave on the mind a greater impression. He never seems to attain to that mysterious quality which is indescribable, and which men of lesser technical power attained unmistakably. It is the possession of this essential that makes men like Lnini rank above Correggio.
