NEWS OF THE WEEK.

DURING the week the King and Queen have been in Scot- land, and both in Edinburgh, where a Court was held in the Palace of Holyrood, and in Glasgow they have been greeted with great enthusiasm. In Glasgow, as became one of the greatest centres of population in these islands, the crowds were on a gigantic scale, and often entirely blocked the streets, the drizzling rain making no difference to the enthusiasm and good temper of the people. The King and Queen during their stay in Scotland were the guests of the Duke of Buccleuch at Dalkeith House. The Lords Provost of Edinburgh and Glasgow received baronet, cies in honour of the Royal visit.
