[To the Editor of the SPECTATOR.] SIR ,—I am much
interested in the wheatmeal question. The idea of Mr. F. Berney is a good one, and would be- perfect if, instead of using the wholemeal as ground, he would bolt-out the bran through a twenty-three mesh sieve. Bran is mostly fibre and mineral salts. The fibre of the bran often: irritates the intestines, and is useless. If he wishes to get. the mineral salts out of the bran; he has only to boil the bran well, then drink the water after straining. The water can also be boiled until its evaporation leaves but a small drink..
