The North happily needs no safeguards, but here we desire

to ,remind the country that the Ulstermen do not claim, and never will claim, the right to veto any arrangements with Ireland, outside the Six County Area, which the British Parliament decides to make. Ulster claims her own right to decide her own fate, but not the fate of the rest of Ireland. It is most important to remember this fact. Should the present attempt at a settlement fail—which may Providence in its mercy avert is—no one will have any right to lay the blame upon Ulster. If we are asked, "What right have you to say that ? " we reply, "Let anyone try to get our statement disavowed by the Ulster leaders."
