The Electric Fence

A number of inquiries have reached me—from Canada as well as Britain—about the electric fence that is now becoming popular, for the good reason that it is cheap and efficient. A single wire suffices to keep stock in, and it may be added to keep trespassers out. The device was first tried on the Continent, and when, after some years, an English firm began to manufacture the apparatus, it waited six months for its first order. Now two firms, at any rate, specialise in this fence and have found a good many clients. A very brief training teaches any stock that it is unwise to approach this uncomfortable wire too closely. A five-volt battery is sufficient.
