The Clergy List, 1909. (Kelly's Directories. 12s. ad. net,)—The list
of clergy shows a small increase, amounting to something between one and two hundred. This is small when compared with the increase in population, and bears a minute proportion to the total, which, including missionary and Colonial clergy, may be reckoned at thirty-three thousand. It must be borne in mind, however, that the number of academical and scholastic clergy who are without any pastoral charge is now very small. Many of the "retired" have some work of the kind. The value of the livings is now given with pensions deducted, while additions made by ecclesiastical bodies are included. A careful examination of a considerable part of the volume enables us to speak highly of its accuracy and completeness.
