THE PSALMS IN MODERN LIFE.

[To me EDITOR OF THE " SPELTATOIL")

Sia„—With reference to Mr. Gladstone's; appreciation of the Psalms, as mentioned by a correspondent in last Saturday's Spectator, perhaps you will allow me to give his (Mr. Oladstone's) exact words:- " John Bright has told me that lee would he content to stake upon the Book of Psalms the great question whether there is or not a Divine revelation. It was not to him conceivable bow a work so widely severed from all the known productions of antiquity, and standing upon a level so much higher, could be eccounted for except by a special and extraordinary aid."
