THE DISTRESS IN BULGARIA

WE have received an appeal, signed by a number of well-known people, for funds to relieve the widespread distress in Bulgaria caused by the recent earthquakes. A correspondent in §ofia writes : ",The poor people whose homes have been either destroyed or rendered dangerous by the upheaval are camping out in the rain. Help is needed to build light shelters, to ; buy tents, clothing, medical stores, and food for the destitute. Every little collected may save the life and reason of some Of these poor people." Cheques and postal orders should be crossed " Bulgarian Earthquake Fund."
