SIR,—In Saint James's Churchyard, Hyde Park-on-the- Hudson, New York, there is a quaint tombstone on which is cut :—

" Stranger, stop and cast an eye ! As you are now so once was I ; As I am now so you shall be ;- Prepare for death and follow me."

One day, when I was passing through the churchyard, I noticed, written in chalk, the following, placed just beneath

the engraved words :-

" To follow you I'm not content

Unless I know which way you went!"
