BADGERS.

Sts,—There was one statement in Mr. Gordon's very know- ledgeable article on badgers in your issue of August Gth which some may find surprising—i.e., that a badger is easily killed by a single blow across the bridge of the nose. Has ho actually seen it done, I wonder? I have seen it tried twice (by one who had been told it was a simple way to kill a badger) with a heavy coal hammer without any apparent effect whatever beyond merely causing the badger to shake his head!
