THE TOMBS OF THE POPES.

Sra,—In your review of Gregorovius's " Tombs of the Popes" in the Spectator of November 28th you say that it is a marvel that nothing commemorates either Gregory VII. or Innocent III. I do not know whether you will think it worth while to correct this mistake, for mistake it is. The former Pope was buried in the Cathedral at Salerno, where his tomb is to be seen in the chapel of John of Procida, the great enemy of Charles I. of Anjou. A magnificent monu- ment was erected by the last Pope to Innocent III. in the Lateran, and when completed his body was removed there from Perugia.—I am, Sir, &c., H. B. R.
